Calabash

The best fresh seafood is in Calabash Brunswick County
Earning the nickname “The Seafood Capital of the World,” Calabash is the southernmost point in the Brunswick Islands. Latest census data placed the population at 2,038 residents – representing a 186.6% increase since 2000.

Known For

This quaint fishing village offers over a dozen seafood restaurants established right along the docks. Calabash seafood is delivered directly off the fishing boats right to the kitchen and then on to your plate. It doesn’t get any fresher than this! The community is also synonymous with its unique preparation of fried seafood, which has become collectively known as “Calabash Style.”

Calabash offers more than great dining experiences. In fact, the town holds every convenience that a resident could ask for. A well-equipped Fire Department and EMS unit proudly serves the community. Banks, veterinary clinics, dentists, beauty salons, a hardware store, auto body shops, a mini golf course, gas stations and a medical center can all be found within the town borders. Due to all these conveniences and the city’s wonderful location, Calabash real estate is a hot commodity.

Activities

Community activities are frequently scheduled through the Calabash Merchants Association, the Parks & Recreation Department and other organizations. The newest popular event is the Summer Concert & Movies Series in which locals and tourists can enjoy live music and outdoor family-friendly films. The Calabash Community Park is a great place to play shuffleboard, horseshoes or bocce ball. Bring the family, light up a charcoal grill in the park and enjoy a meal while sitting at a locally crafted handmade picnic table.
