Ride the Tide is This Saturday!

The Ride the Tide Kayak Float & Race is on Saturday, May 16th. If you haven’t registered yet, what are you waiting for?

The Kayak float will begin at 8:30 AM and the race will start at 9:00 AM. The race will go from the Recreation Center at 3003 East Oak Island Drive in Oak Island to Blue Water Point Marina on the outgoing tide. Kayakers will follow the David Canal and cross over the Montgomery Slough. There will be boats stationed to guide participants as well.

Awards will be given out within various age groups, and there will also be a costume contest, and a poker run. The poker run will consist of various checkpoints in which you will receive a playing card. At the end of the race, the participant with the best poker hand will win a special prize.

Both singles and double kayaks can participate and kayak rentals will be available from The Adventure Kayak Company at $25 and $45, respectively. Also, the first 75 participants will receive a t-shirt. For more information, or to register, click here or call 910-278-5518.
